So basically Lingunberry is a sailing vigilante that goes around overthrowing tyrants and such, removing colonial appointed leaders, and establishing trade routes with those communities.
He's also kind of the reincarnation of Captain William Kidd
Lingunberry also has to spend lots of time either fighting or avoiding Colonial powers
(if I wanted to be bold I could just say the US and UK but idk if those nations are established in this lore, if I wanted to have that as an established part of this lore one of the first places I'd have Lingunberry do the overthrowing is in honduras)
It started when a young Ulster-Scot child in Missisipi, nicknamed Gin, found an injured Grackle on his way to work. He cared for the grackle to health, named it Lingunberry, after a fruit he had just tasted for the first time, but didn't know how to spell correctly. And through the power of friendship magic or some disney shenanigans (I haven't worked this through yet), Lingunberry gains the power to shapeshift and sentience and is able to speak directly to Gin now (also haven't worked out how that works). As well as some hazy memories of a past life.
Gin and Lingunberry become very good friends, sharing most of their experiences from when they met to the present (sometime in the late 19th to early 20th century). Lingunberry has visions of their past life as a pirate, images of maps, and markings of old buried treasure.
Lingunberry tells Gin about their vision and Gin decides to join the merchant mariners for a chance to see the treasure for himself.
During his time in the Merchant Mariners, Gin was hazed and belittled and beat, and Lingun watched it all happen, most being about his "Buck Teeth", (I don't want to come up with mean names for people with overbites right now), and Lingun didn't like it too much so they staged a mutiny. They tied the captain, the first mate, and a majority of the crew to bouys and dropped them floating near a port in maine.
Lingun becomes the captain of the ship and Gin as their first mate, and they go off searching the Atlantic coast of the Americas for Kidd's buried treasure, and they eventually do. They decide to do something active with their riches and hire a new crew, fight off imperial colonist ships from invading more of the Americas, and overthrowing tyrants and using their immense wealth to help stabilize those communities and nations, as well as becoming an indespensible link in the global trade network, while also being the most wanted sailors in the Atlantic.
